Airway Insight Visit (ages 3+)
What is an Airway Insight Visit?
An Airway Insight Visit is a comprehensive evaluation designed to uncover hidden factors that may be affecting breathing, sleep, and overall health. Many signs of airway dysfunction — such as snoring, restless sleep, mouth breathing, bed wetting, speech challenges, or crowding of the teeth — are often brushed off or attributed to other causes. This visit allows us to look deeper, gathering the information needed to create a personalized roadmap for treatment.
Why Schedule an Airway Insight Visit?
Airway health influences growth, sleep, and daily function. When the airway is restricted, children and adults may experience:
- Snoring, restless sleep, frequent waking, or bed wetting
- Mouth breathing, allergies, or chronic nasal congestion
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Narrow palate, crowding, crossbite, or open bite
- Tongue thrust or speech concerns
- Extended thumb-sucking or pacifier use
- Daytime fatigue, irritability, or poor focus
What's Included in the Visit?
The Airway Insight Visit is a data-gathering appointment that includes:
- 3D X-Ray (CBCT): Detailed view of the airway, jaw growth, nasal passages, and sinuses
- Full Photo Documentation: Posture, facial balance, dental arches, and bite
- Tongue Function & Oral Posture Screening
- Digital Impression (iTero scan): A 3D model of the teeth and jaws to track growth and changes over time
- Home Sleep Test: A painless, at-home study that monitors breathing and sleep quality
- Oral Ties Screening
What Happens Next?
About two weeks later, you'll return for a Review & Roadmap Visit. At this appointment, Dr. Jen will review all of the gathered data and create a personalized plan that may include:
- Myofunctional therapy
- Expansion or orthodontics
- Tongue or lip tie release
- Lateral referrals (such as ENT, bodywork, orthodontist, or speech-language pathologist)
- Or (most likely) a combination of treatments
