The LightScalpel CO2 Laser
The LightScalpel is a surgical CO2 laser: a concentrated beam of light that vaporizes tissue cleanly and precisely while sealing blood vessels as it works. Its design draws on years of experience in medicine and oral surgery.
Where a scalpel or scissors can bruise or crush tissue, the laser touches nothing — only light interacts with the tissue, so there's no mechanical trauma, and the coagulation zone is as narrow as 50 microns, about the width of a human hair.
A CO2 laser can vaporize — essentially "erase" — tissue as well as make incisions and remove unhealthy tissue. It's precise enough to take away just a few cells at a time, yet powerful enough to de-bulk large tumors.
How Do We Use It in Our Practice?
Dr. Huffman uses the LightScalpel for tethered oral tissue releases and for treating elongated soft palates to improve airway health. To see why the laser beats traditional surgical tools for treating tongue-tie and lip-tie, visit our Tongue-Tie page.
